As exciting as the spring and summer months are, this is when fleas start to emerge. The flea’s eggs that may have been dormant during the colder weather will begin to hatch.

How do I know if my cat has fleas?

The most common way to tell if your cat has fleas would be a lot of scratching. We recommend looking at their ears for flea dirt, or dried blood. The belly area and around the bum would appear red and bumpy.

Do fleas harm cats?

For fleas to survive and reproduce, they will take a blood meal from your cat. If the flea infestation is substantial enough, it could cause your cat to become anemic and extremely ill. Fleas also have the potential to transmit tapeworm to your cat.

Why is treating and preventing fleas so important?

To end the cycle of the fleas, you need to treat for several months. It is recommended to treat year-round to avoid infestations. Also, fleas can cause your cat to become very ill so treating before they get them is key.
